Music

Ahhh music!  We love it.  Kids love it.  I try to make a cd of music each month to correspond with our themes.  I always include some music and movement songs at the end I think my children will like.  Sometimes I do purchase music because I find specific songs or artists I particularly like.  I want to share a couple resources for free downloads I have found, in addition to children's music singers I love.  This list will grow as I find more sites I can share...
Dream English offers a large selection of downloads on a variety of topics.
Free Kids Music is a great resource for exposing yourself to those producing and recording children's music.  Their site is listed alphabetically by the artist name.  Many of the artist offer anywhere from one to three free downloads and some have videos uploaded as well.  You will have to spend some time hunting through artists if you are looking for songs on a specific theme.
Free Songs For Kids lists songs by subject and artist.  Many of the songs have the lyrics listed under them.
Nancy Stewart has a wonderful variety of music.  If you check out her site she has a "Song of the Month" section that you can search through by category, year and month, alphabetically, or in her own playlists.  To save her songs simply right click the red download link at the top of a songs page and go to "save link as."  She also includes the lyrics to her songs.
Elizabeth Mitchell is a Smithsonian Folkways Recording artist with a lovely voice.  Her songs are sweet and peaceful with lyrics that are uplifting and meaningful.  She is a favorite of mine.  I actually found a song of hers on the Free Kids Music website and because I liked it so much searched for her.  Here is a little sample with "Little Seed", a song I have definitely played on repeat:
Frances England was a recommendation I read on Elizabeth Mitchell's site and immediately loved.  Her songs are fun and thoughtful in the same vein as Elizabeth Mitchell.  "Sun Will Shine Again" is my favorite song I have heard of hers so far:
