About Me

Welcome!

My name is Charlene.  I've been working in education for almost seventeen years.  I have my degree from the University of Virginia and I'm currently the two-year-old teacher at a day school.  I have a love of art that comes from teaching it to preschool children for five years and a deep respect for the Montessori method as I was fortunate to have a year of training in it.  My teaching style is heavily influenced by these experiences.

I'm excited that you've stumbled across my blog and are reading this.  I'm going to assume that either like me your an early childhood educator or your a parent looking for activities.  Finding activities for two-year-olds can be extremely difficult.  Over the years I found that I was often modifying ideas in order to use them with my young class.

Though its been a process of trial and error, eliciting advice from more experienced teachers, and researching through books and on the internet for activities, I am excited about how and what my class learns.  This experience, however, made me question how many other people find it difficult to find ideas for this age group.

I started this blog with the intention of sharing the successes and failures of my own classroom and those sites I've found to be most useful.  It was a natural step for me to want to start a blog as I have been blogging and creating YouTube videos on preschool art lessons for over two years now.  My "Wecreate" blog and YouTube channel started with a desire to encourage adults looking for fun art ideas to do with the children in their lives.  In that same line of thinking, I want to encourage the use of fun activities for two-year-olds as there is the potential for aiding development across so many domains.  It is absolutely astonishing how much a child learns and conquers from the age of two to three whether in terms of communication and problem-solving skills, fine or gross motor coordination, and social skills!

This blog is a work in progress.  Please forgive the sparse content while I work towards posting the years worth of work I have been collecting for this purpose.
